 Royal Carib 2009 Sailings (728x90)

It's not just a canal. It's a rite of passage.

There are several places in this world that seasoned travelers regard as "must-sees," the Holy Grails of the travel set. For some it may be the pyramid at Giza, the temple of Angkor Wat or the South Pole. Some lists may include the Great Wall or the Great Barrier Reef. But one sight that makes virtually every serious traveler's list of "things to see before I die," is the Panama Canal.

It's 50 miles long. A ship can pass through in a mere seven hours. Yet when you're in it, it takes on almost mythic proportions. As your ship rises 85 feet in the Gatún Locks and passes into Gatún Lake, the world's largest man-made lake, you get a true sense of the daring it took to conceive the Canal. You get a sense of the brilliance it took to engineer it, and the toil it took to build it. And as you pass through that one narrow point on the planet where the Pacific changes into the Atlantic, you may feel a slight change in yourself. Not to worry. It's only the feeling of joining a slightly more elite group of travelers.

All cruise prices are per person, cruise only, and based on double occupancy. Additional government taxes and fees are not included - click price for details. All prices are subject to change as often as daily and are based on availability at the time of the booking. Certain restrictions apply. Ship's registry: Norway and the Bahamas
