Cruising is a remarkable value. And when it comes to destinations, it’s especially true in places like the Caribbean in the fall and winter or in Europe during the winter months when demand is less and therefore rates are lower. Cruising in Europe really does represent a terrific bargain for two main reasons: the strong Euro makes land-based vacations very pricey. And secondly, to see all the places that a cruise takes you would require numerous flights or a rental car, plus tolls, gas, parking and much more – and that’s not even considering lodging and meals. Ouch. All of you, especially the super budget-minded, will appreciate Saving money.

Book now for a spectacular cruise that takes you through one of the wonders of modern engineering - the Panama Canal. See man and nature working in perfect harmony as you cruise past emerald-green rainforests.

Hurry before these Sailings are all booked.

Bring your group together for an experience you'll talk about for years to come.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has issued a new ruling that goes into effect on February 18, 2008, which mandates that all guests embarking on a cruise from a U.S. port be checked-in and onboard their ship at least one hour prior to ship's departure. To comply with this mandate and ensure that there is ample time for check-in, Most Cruise Lines now require that all guests be checked in 90 minutes prior to the ship's scheduled departure. Guests arriving later than the 90 minutes check-in time will be denied boarding.

Caribbean, Bahamas, Bermuda, Alaska, Mexican Riviera, Or Canada & New England Cruises
For sailings that depart from and return to the same U.S. port, you only need proof of citizenship and a government issued photo I.D. or a valid driver's license with a photo. Proof of Citizenship examples include: an original or state certified copy of a birth certificate, a valid or recently expired passport, a U.S. passport card, Enhanced Driver's License, certificate of naturalization, certificate of citizenship, or a report of your birth abroad.

For open-jaw sailings (cruises that depart from one U.S. port and return to a different U.S. port), you are required to carry a valid passport, U.S. passport card or Enhanced Drivers License, as well as have in your possession all relative visas that pertain to your travel itinerary. Permanent residents of the U.S. are required to carry their valid ARC cards for boarding AND passport from their country of citizenship, if available.

Note: We strongly recommend that all guests travel with a valid passport during their cruise. If you miss your ship at its scheduled U.S. departure port and need to travel outside the U.S. to meet your ship, or should you unexpectedly need to depart the ship from a foreign port prior to the end of sailing, a passport would be required to leave or re-enter the U.S. by air.

Princess Cruises Debuts New “Ultimate Ship Tour” with

Launch of Ruby Princess

Rare Behind-the-Scenes Access Will Give Passengers Exclusive Insider’s View of Ship Operations

SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (September 2, 2008) – Most cruise ship passengers are aware that behind the scenes of their relaxing cruise vacation there’s a bustle of activity to deliver an excellent experience, but few have gotten an up-close look at these inner workings.  This will change in November with the debut of Ruby Princess as Princess Cruises introduces an industry first, The Ultimate Ship Tour, an exclusive opportunity to experience an array of “back of house” areas that are key to a ship’s daily operations.

This pioneering concept will give passengers the unique opportunity to explore beyond the public areas with visits to the ship’s engine control room, medical center, print shop, laundry, photo lab, bridge and other spaces for a rare insider’s view of many areas typically seen only by the ship’s crew.  Participants will also receive a variety of themed mementos at many of the stops along the route.

“This tour is really the ultimate opportunity for some of our passengers to get a very unique view of the new Ruby Princess, and meet some of the ship’s senior officers in their working environment,” said Jan Swartz, Princess senior vice president.  “I’m sure people will be amazed at what goes into running a city at sea, particularly since our onboard staff makes it appear so easy.”

The Ultimate Ship Tour lasts approximately three hours, and will be offered once or twice per cruise on a sea day.  Space is limited for the tour, which will be available for $150 per person, and can be reserved onboard at the Passenger Services Desk.  Following its debut aboard Ruby Princess, the program will be introduced aboard all Princess ships.

The innovative tour will feature:

Back Stage Area – Passengers start the tour with a glimpse behind the glitz in the Princess Theater, home to Princess’ sparkling stage productions.  They’ll meet the cast and production staff, who will show them all that goes into making sure the show goes on night after night – including costumes and dressing areas, scenery and technical operations such as lighting and sound.

Galley and Food Production Areas – In the galley, guests will meet the executive chef, learn about the process of providing thousands of passengers meals each day, and see the inner workings of the ship’s kitchen areas while enjoying a glass of French champagne, caviar and canapés.  In addition, passengers will get a peek into some of Ruby Princess’ vast food storage and production areas, each specially equipped and temperature-controlled for a specific type of food.  Each guest will also be presented with an official chef’s jacket.

Engine Control Room – At the center of the vessel’s mechanical and electrical systems, the engine control room is where the ship’s technical team monitors everything from the operation of the ship’s propellers to the water supply in each stateroom.  Participants will meet the chief technical offer and his staff who will explain the numerous functions overseen by the control room, including the vast amount of power generated to operate Ruby Princess.

Print Shop – Passengers will see where their daily Princess Patter, among other things, is produced.  The ship’s printer will meet the group and demonstrate the printing equipment and explain which materials passengers see each day are printed right onboard Ruby Princess.  To mark their visit, each passenger will receive their own set of personalized stationery printed on board.

Photo Laboratory – Princess was the first cruise line to go completely digital, and each ship operates a full photo lab with the latest in digital printing equipment.  The group will meet the Ruby Princess photo staff and learn how they manage the thousands of pictures taken and printed each day.  Participants might even see their own smiling faces print out during their visit.

Medical Center – The ship’s doctor will meet the group to show them the state-of-the-art medical facilities, including treatment rooms, laboratory facilities, intensive care unit, and digital x-ray system.  Participants will learn how the ship’s doctors and nurses – all full-time maritime medicine specialists – keep both passengers and crew healthy and handle medical emergencies.  They’ll also learn about the most common reasons passengers visit the medical center.

Main LaundryRuby Princess’ onboard laundries operate 24 hours a day to wash tons of passenger and crew linens, towels, and clothing – including more than 20,000 towels a day alone.  Here visitors will meet the laundry master and will see this impressive operation in action.  Participants will also receive a luxurious bath robe usually reserved for suite passengers.

Funnel – The group will then travel to the upper most deck of the ship to join the staff captain for the opportunity to peek inside the ship’s funnel area high atop Ruby Princess, where they will be treated to spectacular views of the ship and the surrounding ocean.

Bridge – The tour concludes at the ship’s command center, where passengers will meet the captain and his bridge team and learn about the state-of-the-art navigational equipment and safety systems aboard Ruby Princess.  Passengers will also take in the dramatic front-of-ship views from the bridge’s wraparound windows, while they enjoy special refreshments and pose with the captain at the ship’s wheel for a complimentary photo.  The framed photo and a tour completion certificate signed by the captain will later be delivered to each participant’s stateroom.

Ruby Princess, a sister ship to Emerald Princess and Crown Princess, will debut on November 8.  Ship features include a dramatic piazza-style atrium featuring small-bite eateries and an ever-changing array of performing street entertainers, Princess' signature adults-only retreat called The Sanctuary, an Italian restaurant, a seafood and steak house, and "Movies Under the Stars," a giant outdoor movie screen.  The 113,000-ton vessel will feature an inaugural season of Western Caribbean cruises roundtrip from Fort Lauderdale, followed by a program of Mediterranean voyages in summer 2009.

On either cruise, you'll also visit some of the most picturesque and exciting ports of call on both sides of the Canal, including Cabo San Lucas, Acapulco, Huatulco, Puntarenas, Cristobal, and Aruba. Sportfish or whale-watch, sail or snorkel, or take a dive in the crystal-blue waters. There's always an adventure to be had!

Princess will now offer more than double the Australia and New Zealand capacity of any other cruise line, and will feature more capacity in Asia on voyages longer than 10 days.

The 116,000-ton Diamond Princess will offer 16 Asia and Australia/New Zealand sailings with a choice of five different itineraries traveling to some of the region's most intriguing ports.   The season features more departures on the favorite Southeast Asia and China itinerary, and offers several spring sailings in addition to the traditional fall cruise options - representing a 33 percent increase in Asia capacity.  A passenger favorite, Diamond Princess will be the largest and most feature-rich vessel sailing in the region, with more than 50 percent of staterooms offering a private balcony, perfect for enjoying the dramatic harbor views found on these itineraries.

Rounding out the program with new options, Sun Princess and Dawn Princess will sail between Australia, New Zealand, the South Pacific and Asia, including an expanded series of cruises around the continent and new home ports in Melbourne and Perth.

"The wonder of Asia and beauty of Australia continue to delight our passengers year after year," said Jan Swartz, Princess' senior vice president of customer service and sales.  "We're dedicated to providing our passengers with these rich exotic itineraries that never fail to create memories that last a lifetime."

Australia & New Zealand - Diamond Princess sails on Princess' classic 12-day Australia & New Zealand itinerary between Sydney and Auckland.  The ship offers six sailings between December 12, 2008 and February 10, 2009 that visit Melbourne, Hobart (Tasmania), Dunedin, Christchurch, Tauranga and offer scenic cruising through the dramatic Fiordland National Park.

Southeast Asia & China - Diamond Princess features more sailings on this popular 16-day route between Beijing and Bangkok that includes calls at Nagasaki, Shanghai, Okinawa, Taipei, Hong Kong, Nha Trang (Vietnam), Ho Chi Minh City and Singapore.  The ship offers six departures, with fall cruises sailing between October 6 and November 7, 2008, as well as spring sailings between March 14 and April 15, 2009.

Australia & Asia - Two options await passengers who want a glimpse of both the wonders of Asia and the dramatic natural attractions of Australia.  The first choice, a 19-day Bangkok to Sydney route features Ho Chi Minh City, Kota Kinabalu (Borneo, Malaysia), Singapore, Darwin,  Port Douglas, Airlie Beach (for the Great Barrier Reef), and Brisbane.  Diamond Princess heads "Down Under" on this itinerary departing November 23, 2008.  In spring, passengers can choose to sail from Sydney to Bangkok on a more southern route, featuring calls in Melbourne, Hobart, Adelaide, Perth, Exmouth, Singapore, Ho Chi Minh City, and Sihanoukville (Cambodia - for Angkor Wat).  This enhanced 20-day adventure departs on February 22, 2009.

Alaska & Far East - A 15- and 16-day day voyage across the top of the Pacific, sailing between Anchorage (Whittier) and Beijing as Diamond Princess takes passengers to Kodiak Island, Sapporo (Japan), Vladivostok, Pusan (Korea), Kagoshima and Dalian (China).  The ship sails from Anchorage (Whittier) on September 20, 2008, with a return sailing on a 16-day reverse itinerary departing Beijing on May 1, 2009.  Both cruises can be combined with a Gulf of Alaska cruise to make a full 22- or 23-day-day journey, or even an extended 31- or 32-day sailing by adding in a Southeast Asia and China cruise as well.

Sun Princess and Dawn Princess Sail From Australia - In addition to Diamond Princess' program, Princess will also offer a series of special Australia-based cruises aboard Sun Princess and Dawn Princess.  In what is Princess' largest Australia program yet, these two ships will offer 32 departures with 242 calls to 82 different ports.  Sun Princess, which will make its home in Australia year-round, will be joined by Dawn Princess between October 2008 and March 2009 and together they will offer a unique line-up of cruise options including 28-day cruises around Australia, a new 13-day itinerary to New Zealand, and an eight-day voyage to Tasmania, in addition to a selection of other cruises to the South Pacific, Asia and a variety of Australian ports.
